Monday Monday Monday

When I was teaching I always hated Mondays. It meant I had to get up early. It meant that I had to go to work. It meant I had to figure out what I was teaching that day/week... who plans on Fridays? It also meant I never knew what was going to walk through the door... what kind of weekend did the kids have? What kind of drama occurred while they were with their parents? What kind of drama was going to happen this week? Lots of questions and lots of what nows, what nexts.

The funny things is as a stay-at-home mom in some ways I like Mondays. Don't get me wrong I don't want to send Richard back to work... I love having him home with us, but at the same time.... Mondays are relatively quiet here. Monday means back into routine, back on schedule. Monday means I can choose the pace of what happens for the most part. Monday means time to myself (even if I'm trying to clean, blog, rest, cook, etc... all at once).

So do you love or hate Mondays? And why??

  1. I love Mondays :) Because it is my hubby's day off - so that means I have help around the house and we can do stuff...like go for a walk, or run errands etc. It means I'm not at home without a vehicle for the day and we just have a day together. ;) It's great...so, I love Mondays!

  2. I have three children. And. We always try to make the weekend as easy going as possible, spending time with Dad.... Except. When Monday rolls around I have the whole weekend's mess to contend with. So. Generally... Mondays and I.... not friends!!

  3. I am a teacher too but I am currently home with my 3 week old and my 3 yr. old. I completely agree. I hated them when I worked but I like them now for the sam reasons, quiet, routine, calm.

  4. I hate Mondays, now! Becuase I have so much fun with my kiddo on the weekends and Monday means I have to take him back to the nanny and can't spend time with him during the day. PLUS it means I have to *gag* go back to law school for another week of misery!

  5. I totally agree with you. I hate Mondays as a teacher. You can NEVER be prepared for a Monday. I didn't dread them nearly as much when I was home with Eliza. I did miss Pete going back to work though.

  6. I am the same as you. I hated going back to work when I worked and now, I love them. I love the weekend because Jay's home but then Monday comes and he and Jack are back to work and school and it's quiet time with me and Kamden.

Mondays are good days but really every day is a good day!

  7. I hate Mondays too!! Since I'm a teacher too I can't stand getting back in to that same old Monday routine!! Getting up super early, going to work, screaming kids giving me a headache(lol), and because Friday seems soooo far away!!

  8. Teacher Pam hates (and I can't emphasize that enough!) Monday. I hate going back to work and leaving my kids. I hate facing whatever drama and challenges are waiting at my classroom door and I hate dealing with the behaviors it takes all week to get rid of only to have the parents let the kids do it all weekend. Over the summer, I don't even pay attention to the day of the week and so I love Monday then.

  12. I'm so on board with your Monday thinking.

Ahhhh, the calm and routine of Monday. I guess being a teacher really makes me want to know the routine for the week. Come Momday, I'm back in charge all by myself. Gotta love that!
