shhh!

As much as I miss sleeping from 10pm-6am or longer, I do enjoy the quiet of the house in these pre-dawn hours. I've learned that if Colby gets me up around 4am or later then I might as well just stay up. If I try to go back to sleep I seem even more worn down. So I usually nurse him, snuggle together until he falls back to sleep and then get going. I throw the laundry in or clean the kitchen or some other little quiet cleaning project. I can come on the computer and read all the new posts in Google Reader, and update my own blog. It is a great time to do some scrapbooking or upload and tweak the pics I took.

Some mornings, like today, Colby just wants to be held and cuddled. I can give him this time no because its a whole lot easier than later when Blake will be pulling me to go and do and play with him.

So, I've learned to make the most of it and enjoy my quiet time when I can get it... even if it's during the pe-dawn hours.

  1. That is sweet. I remember when Riley was smaller/still nursing that while I hated being tired and awake and I hated being up so early- there was something calm and nice about that time. Plus, he and I were alone so we got to bond a bit. Like you said, that is much easier to do at that time then when the sibling is up.

  3. My favorite quiet time is from about 8:00pm - until I go to bed! Both little ones are asleep and I get to finally sit down and do whatever I want, which is usually being on the computer!

  5. Sounds like you've just got some extra hours in your day! Hope you're getting enough sleep in, too, though . . .:)
