get out and vote

I am so glad it is election day... and probably not for the reason you think. Yes, I did go vote today! Richard and I took the boys and had to wait for a little over 2 hours to vote, but my vote was cast. I'm a strong believer that you can't complain about the way the country is going if you don't get out and vote. Make your voice be heard!

Yes, I'm excited to see who will be the new President, and how the congress will break down this term. But that still isn't why I'm excited it's election day.

I'm excited it's election day because my mailbox will no longer be filled with political fliers that I will just toss in the trash. My phone will not be ringing and some computer will not be filling my voice mail with political propaganda! Every other commercial on tv will not be a plug for someone's point of view.

It drives me crazy... yes I know you want to get your view out there, but think about all the money you are wasting. Do you really think people weed through 5-15 political fliers every day?? I don't! So that means more trees wasted and more garbage in our landfills... I thought we were trying to go green??

Do they really think it is worth the money spent on all the phone calls?? I think we need to step back and say... isn't there a lot of better things to spend this money on? I know take that wasteful spending and put it towards education, health care, paying down the deficit??

So, yes get out and vote... make sure your voice is heard!

  1. My voice was heard and it only took me about 15 minutes total to vote, the other precincts line was like over an hour wait. Nice post!

  3. My pastor said once, don't vote to see who can put more $$ in your pocket, but who can put more morality and Godliness in the government!! I am still convinced absentee ballot was the way to go!! Have a great week!

  4. I couldn't have written a more accurate post of my feelings if I tried! I've been watching the news coverage all day (my hubby is a politics junky) and can't get over the lines that people have to wait on. Our polling station has two booths and there was only 1 person ahead of me on line. Pretty much that way all day long.

  6. I keep waiting for the candidate who says "I'm not spending money to advertise myself. Instead I'm putting that money into... so I don't have to raise your taxes."

    I'd vote for that!

  8. And don't forget about those signs you see EVERYWHERE YOU GO!! Seriously, do you need 10 of the same signs on one block??
Today, John McCain called me twice and even Rudy Guliani!! I am so ready for this to be done too!!

  9. My wait to vote was not that long. This year was fun because my oldest got to go with me and see how it all works. She really enjoyed it!
