Christmas in Florida (part 1)

yes... I said part one and that means there will be more editions to this segment

I am not a real Floridian... I am a displaced northerner so I do feel I can talk about the differences between a Florida Christmas and well... the rest of the US.

You know you are in Florida when it is December 9th, and you are sitting in front of the Christmas tree wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I have all the windows open in the house because it's 77 out and tomorrow's forecast is 84.

You know you are in Florida for Christmas when you are planning out Christmas clothes and you need to find short sleeve shirts to wear that are holiday-ish. But, you also have to have ones that are long sleeves because it could be lows in the 40s and highs in the low 60s.

So you know you are in Florida for Christmas when the temperature could be anywhere between mid-30s to mid-80s at any given time on any given day. Oh and I so love wearing my shorts and t-shirts in December... it so beats wearing turtle neck and sweater and then still feeling cold

  1. O rub it in!!
The past two days so cold, temp in the low 30s, but with the wind chill, felt like teens. Today, in the 40s but overcast. Sun every once in awhile. Tomorrow in the 50s and rainy. Next day? In the 30s!
    Thats the weather in PA!!

  2. My family up north used to get so mad at me when they got the kids' Santa picture. I usually had them in shorts or jumpers. They asked me to please for the sake of the picture to put them in warm clothes just for the picture! :o) Poor kids were sweating to death!! Gotta love FL!

  4. so that last two days it has been FREEZING here. The kids were only allowed out for ten minutes of recess because it was so cold- I could use a florida Christmas to warm up!

  5. Not fair! I'm lovin' the sound of your Florida Christmas...sounds so much nicer than our FREEZING cold, boots, mitts, hat, jacket, snow-pant wearing weather! :) Oh well. :)

  6. That is so crazy. I would miss a cold x-mas. It is what i grew up with so if I ever move I will have to go somewhere cold when santa comes around.

  7. That seems so funny to me. I don't think it would feel like Christmas if it wasn't cold and I couldn't at least hope for snow. But I must admit, not freezing my butt off as I went from family gathering to family gathering would be nice.

  9. I would love for it to be warmer, but I would not want to give up my white Christmas for the warmer weather. I guess it is worth the cold to see snow on Christmas morning, but I sure do wish it would warm up the day after. LOL
