Children's Miracle Network

One of the local radio stations, Magic 107.7, that I listen to on a regular basis, does an annual fund raiser for Children's Miracle Network. The money goes to helping the local children's hospital, Arnold Palmer Hospital, as well as the women's hospital, Winnie Palmer Hospital (where I had my boys). [All the money stays in the local area]

Children's Miracle Network makes it possible for families to help their children who need medical attention and not focus on the financial aspect of this burden. It is describe on it's own site as:

Children's Miracle Network is the alliance of premier children's hospitals. Every year, Children's Miracle Network hospitals treat 17 million children for every disease and injury imaginable. Children's Miracle Network hospitals impact the lives of more children than any other children's organization in the world. Children's hospitals provide state-of-the-art care, life-saving research and preventative education for children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There is a Children's Miracle Network hospital dedicated to serving children in every community across the United States and Canada. These hospitals are committed to providing the best care for children when they need it.

Richard and I have made donations to this for 4 years now. We began donating the winter after the miscarriage. We looked at it as a tribute to our first child. At the time, the Women's hospital was being built still so we actually went to the children's hospital when I had the miscarriage. Then after having the boys at the Women's hosptial I truly believe that these hospitals have the patients interest in mind. (go onto Winnie Palmer's website and look at the virtual tour... the hospital is set up like a hotel)

I also look at this donation as a safety net... you never know when or if something could go wrong with your own child. No parent want to think that something could ever go wrong with your child, but one never knows what could happen. Wouldn't it be nice to know that your child will recieve the best care available and possibly financial help as well.

I encourage you to consider looking into Children's Miracle Network if you are ever looking for a valuable charity!

  5. Our local radio station is doing their telethon for CMN now, too. I have donated to them in the past. The stories they play? Heart wrenching!! Makes you appreciate what you have more and more doesn't it?!
