sleep expanded

I felt that I needed to give a bit more info to go with my earlier post.

At this time, Colby takes 2 naps still. His morning nap usually is 1-1.5 hrs and his afternoon nap is 2-3hrs.

Blake takes a 2-3 hrs nap in the early afternoon.

The reason we have been putting Colby down at 6:30 is because about 6:15 he starts falling on his face and can't walk anymore. He is exhausted from going and going and going.

We've tried playing with Blake's bedtime. We've had it 7pm, 7:15, 7:30, 7:45, 8 (over the last month or so) There is no time that is better than others. He either has a good night and goes right down, or we play the game for over an hour (I'd rather play the game from 7-8 than 8-9)

I know it is a phase for both of them. I know it is a matter of getting one to sleep and then the other will fall asleep. I know it will work out sooner or later. It's just tough while it's happening!

  1. Sleep schedules are tricky that is for sure. If what you are doing is working for your family then it is the right answer! =)

  2. I totally agree with the comment above, she is right! You have to just keep trying some different methods maybe to find what suits your family the best. It's harder in my house because the sun doesn't go down till 8:45 and the kids are wanting to stay up because of the sun blaring through the windows. Smart little boogers, lol.

Have a great day and good luck!

  3. I hear you! Ryan still will sleep in the AM SOMETIMES. His sleep is all over the place. I am just sticking with what I've been doing and going with 2 nap attempts. When I tried rearranging his routine a few weeks back, it was a recipe for disaster. I know how hard sleep routines are!!!

  4. I hope you didn't think I was trying to judge what you were doing or telling you that you were doing something wrong. I did not mean it that way at all!!!!!!! Different things work for everyone and you simply have to do what's best for you. I hope they will work out their schedules soon for your sanity :)

  5. Sleep can be endlessly frsutrating. Eliza does not go to sleep until about 9:30 now that it is bright out later. I have given up on trying to get her to sleep earlier. I even walk her up at 4 from her nap if she is still asleep because I am worrie dshe will be up all night. If she does go to sleep earlier she is up at 6:00-6:30. I hope you find something that works.

  7. Oh Lori, I feel for you. The whole sleep, and routine thing, is such a tough one. What works for some, might not work for others... Ugh, I know, I've been there. We have our own sleep/nap issues right now. Like Mimi said, it does get better. I see some light at the end of the tunnel, I hope you do too, soon.

  9. It's so hard when kiddos don't sleep well. I remember when Jillian took 2 naps a day and was falling on her face by 6:00. We used to put her in the car(she fell asleep quick in there), drove somewhere, then came home and got her out. It was just enough to help her make it to bedtime. But don't worry, they will fall into a pattern soon enough.
