Menu planning

Since I am now doing grocery shopping alone (well with the two boys, but you know what I mean) I decided to switch it to a Thursday activity. So here's the menu plan for this week

Thursday: fend for yourself
Friday: order out for pizza
Saturday: we are having our tailgating group over for appetizers and deserts. I'm making sweet and sour meatballs, pretzel crusted chicken and chocolate triffle
Sunday: Mexican Meat-zza (tasty Tuesday dish!)

day 1: pressed sandwiches
day 2: chicken, balsamic veggies, rice dish concoction... this is my next thought on what to do with the yummy balsamic onions and peppers from the steak dish
day 3: leftovers

What day of the week do you shop on? Do you menu plan too??

  1. I don't menu plan....yet. Think I might give it a try in an effort to cut back on grocery costs though. I am not very good at lists and schedules though. I much prefer to just go with the flow, but Yikes, thats way too expensive.

  2. I shop on Thursdays with a planned list and coupons to support the cost. I do my best to plan a meal plan out but sometimes it doesn't work out. When it does though - it really makes things so much easier. If I stayed at home I could do it but with work and all it get's rather hectic. :)

  4. I learned the "art" of menu planning from my mom. I could not shop without a plan...too chaotic for me.

I make my menu and grocery list on Monday's and then I go grocery shopping on Tuesday mornings. My mother-in-law comes over to look after the boys (I wouldn't get much shopping done with my 1, 2, and 3 year old boys tagging along). When I'm done my shopping I go to Starbucks before I head back home, my little treat to myself!

  5. I definitely menu plan. Right now I don't shop on a particular day of the week, but I think it is going to be Wednesdays, when one boy is in playgroup and I only have to shop with 1 kiddo!

  6. I really need to menu plan. Ugh we are so busy. Can you believe that Models practice is from 4:30 to 6pm two nights a week? Right in the middle of dinner. Crazy. makes it hard to plan, but maybe I would do better if I did plan. That pretzel crusted chicken sounds awesome.

  7. We are menu planners here! I head to the store on either Fridays (if Mike is off) or Sat. My list consists of everything I need for the weekly dinners and the rest of our staples. I have to menu plan!! Otherwise I come home with a huge bill and nothing to eat...LOL! I love menu planning. It makes the weekly dinner choices easy and I know exacly what we're having. NO guesswork!!
