I love to try out new recipes no matter if they are ones I created in my head, ones I found on-line or in a cookbook. Over the years, I have tried recipes from a lot of chefs, one who seems to match my cooking style is Rachael Ray. As a mother, you've got to appreciate the concept of a 30 Minute Meal! Rachael Ray often says that her recipes are just methods. She encourages her viewers to take her recipes and make them their own. I "Lori-ize" almost everything I cook, tayloring the recipe to my families taste. I decided to combine these two ideas and what you see here is the result. Each week I'll create a meal based on a recipe and let you know what we thought. I will give you the original recipe and let you know how I "Lori-ized" it. Hope you enjoy Tasty Tuesday!
The only changes I made to this recipe were: I used a skirt steak. Have I mentioned how much we love this cut?? I also grilled the steak instead of cooking it under the broiler.
(yes I made Richard photograph his birthday dinner)
I like the fact that the steak and onions tasted really good together, but they also tasted delicious on their own. You could easily make this steak again without the onions or make the onions to top something else or as a side dish.
We will certainly save this recipe to try again. It was really good. I don't think there is anything else I would change for the next time.
Oh girl I love me some cooked onions...they just taste so good. That looks wonderful. So glad his birthday dinner was a success.
ReplyDeleteYUM! I usually don't like beef, but lately, I just like it!! I think we might try this soon. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks Delish! If you could push that plate through the monitor that would be great!
ReplyDeleteWe just made this meal last week! I love my Kraft magazines and use the recipes frequently. It was really good too!!
