Artisian Bread

I love to try out new recipes no matter if they are ones I created in my head, ones I found on-line or in a  cookbook. Over the years, I have tried recipes from a lot of chefs, one who seems to match my cooking style is Rachael Ray. As a mother, you've got to appreciate the concept of a 30 Minute Meal! Rachael Ray often says that her recipes are just methods. She encourages her viewers to take her recipes and make them their own. I "Lori-ize" almost everything I cook, tailoring the recipe to my families taste. I decided to combine these two ideas and what you see here is the result. Each week I'll create a meal based on a recipe and let you know what we thought. I will give you the original recipe and let you know how I "Lori-ized" it.  Hope you enjoy Tasty Tuesday!

I'm always looking for different bread recipes.  I feel like some meals just need a good piece of bread to go with them, and if you can find a simple homemade bread, is there anything better?  I was recently reading Out of the Box into the Kitchen and she posted an Artisan Bread that sounded good to me.  So I decided to give it a try (you don't need a bread machine for this one)

I had to make a change to this recipe because I ran out of all-purpose flour, you'd think I'd done a lot of baking lately or something. (o:

I had self -rising flour so I substituted that than realized I should I have used my bread flour, but oh well... lets give this a go

This bread turned our really good.  I only used half of the dough so I can try it again soon. It really did come out crusty on the outside and soft on the inside.  It was pretty simple to put together (especially if you have all the right ingredients).  We ate it with ribs and salad. Blake really liked the bread, he even finished off the loaf the next day.  I am making spaghetti later in the week and plan to make the other half then.

I plan on trying this again when I have all the right ingredients.  I like that you can make just a small loaf so the dough is made for the second loaf already.  Hmmm maybe I'll add some cheese to this loaf since it's going with pasta??

  3. Gosh I bet this smelled fantastic! I don't think I've had much luck making bread in the past since I don't have a bread machine, but this seems fool proof! I'll let ya know, lol
