As September draws near

The end of August, beginning of September, always means the beginning of change for me. I mentioned this in my post about school year vs. calendar year. When I think about August it means the end of vacation the beginning of the school year. It means new routines and schedules. When I lived up north it meant the end of summer and the beginning of fall, not here in FL where Sept is one of our hottest months we have a few more months before we get out of summer still.

It's time for new tv shows, new sporting events and entertainment. Soccer practices started this week. The boys start on Thursday. This year it means I start on Thursday too. I'm going to be the coach of the boys team. So 8 little kids will be calling me Coach Lori, that seems strange to me, but that's the way it is. I need to finalize in my head how I'm going to run this first practice and then go from there. We have 3 girls and 5 boys on the team. There probably won't be as many pictures of soccer because well I'll be on the field and not taking the pictures, but I'm sure Richard will take some.

UCF football starts this weekend. This means that Richard and I get to have some time with other adults. My boys love football, but they are so not ready to sit through tailgating and a football game just yet.

Blake seems to be settling into his new school routine. I won't say so much about Colby and I. We haven't made it to the Y once this week. Guess that's what happens when both he and I get sick on the same weekend. We are on the mend, but still not 100%. I've been going to bed early to try to catch up on some sleep, by early I mean I was turning off the light before 8:20pm last night. Yep I feel sick.

I'm hoping that this long weekend all of us find our groove again. Richard and I will be going to the UCF game on Sat. Richard is taking Monday off so I might even get out of the house by myself on Monday for a bit, a big treat for me.

Hope you are enjoying your last day of August and see it as a turn in a positive direction. We won't talk about the fact that it means it's getting close to holiday times or any of those facts, just yet. (o:

  3. Good Luck with soccer practice! It is so much fun to watch, but I don't know if I could handle being in charge!
