I don't want my diaper changed

I don't get it! Blake used to be pretty good about getting his diaper changed. Lately he throws a major fit when you get ready to change him... and even more so when there is poop!

This morning Richard let Blake out of his room because both boys woke up at the same time. Richard was trying to get ready and out the door so he let Blake out of his room and got his milk for him. I finished nursing Colby just as Richard was ready to leave. So, Blake and I went out to wave bye-bye to Daddy. When we got in the house I said... lets go get changed and then have breakfast. You'd think I told him we were going to jump into a puddle of hot lava or something. He had a major meltdown and actually stayed in his room and laid on his bed after (his choice).

Just now I put him down for his nap and I ended up changing his diaper on his bed, but as soon as I took off the soiled diaper he was up and didn't want to lay down for a new one.

What's up with that?

Oh and Colby is in that little itty bitty phase of I hate to be naked... so he screams when you take anything off him (diaper included)

So at my house anytime I have to do a diaper change there is lots of noise!

The clock image is a Hallmark ornament that I think is so fitting for my life right now!

  1. I promise every time I read your posts I feel as though I am reading my life!!! Avery is the SAME way with the diaper change - we have been going thru this for a while now. I have found that singing (usually Itsy Bitsy Spider)to him makes him be a little more still.

  2. Eliza refuses to lay still for a diaper change. I usually sing Itsy Bitsy Spider or I Know an Old Lady. She squirms away and screams and cries if I try to keep her on her back. When Pete is home we double team her. That clock is adorable.

  3. Sumo writhes and arches his back and tries to kick me in the throat when I change his diaper. I feel your pain.

  5. Well, Tate has also decided that he HATES going to the potty...and his legs stop working and his crying STARTS working whenever we tell him to go potty. Emily however is in love with being naked! haha. :) She's loved it from the start...

  6. Oh no! Diaper changes are still a breeze for us. Wy brings us the diaper and wipes cuz he wants nothing to do with poop anymore. Now eating lately, not so lucky...he makes us feel like horrible parents for expecting him to have nourishment. Hope both our guys get over these phases PRONTO!

I'm sure he'll grow out of that naked phase - and least I hope so for your ears sake!

  9. Lillian has her moments like that, but they're not too frequent! I started typing, "I can't imagine handling two in diapers" - but I'm housebreaking a pup, too. I'd much rather have two in diapers than one in diapers and one that pees and poops on the floor.

  10. Oh no fun! I remember Jillian hating to be naked too! Now she is ok with the naked part but not about the taking the clothes on and off part. she hates getting dressed or undressed! If it's not one thing its another

  11. Isn't it funny how hard these phases seem while we're in them ... and then how we sort of miss them when they're over? Like now. I sort of miss diaper changes. Crazy huh?

  12. Hopefully it is just a stage. We just adopted our little boy and in the orphanage he laid perfectly still and quiet when they changed him but with my hubby it is a different story. Your post made me think of what may come. :)

  13. I remember those days well. Madison went through both stages too. I know with her as she got older diaper changes were a fight because she always seemed so busy wanting to go do other things. Good luck!
