when it rains it pours

So Monday night Colby got up at 12:45 and I was back in bed a few minutes before 2, and then he was up again at 5:30 and was asleep by 6:15. I thought... hey this works for me!

Yeah well I guess he decided it sort of worked for him. Last night he woke up at 1:30 and I tried to put him down at 2:30, 3:45 and finally got him to sleep in his bed at 4:35. Guess what... he woke up again at 5:45. Thanks son! (oh and Blake woke up at 11:35 so I didn't even get a good block of sleep before Colby woke me the first time)

So at 6:30 when he was settled again it was now time for me to be up and moving to be ready for Blake to get up for the day. So I'm sitting there thinking... hey is that thunder? Richard look out the window and see if it's raining... nope not raining. Ok that's fine.

I get up and do the few things I do in the morning before leaving the bedroom. Go get Richard's bagel in the toaster and Blake comes out of his room (normal morning routine) and I look out the window... yeah it's raining now.

By 7:20 it wasn't raining it was POURING and thunder and lightning close by too. Ok... maybe it will be a quick passing storm... nope!

It rained until almost 9am. Ok so no walk today. Richard left through the garage which also threw Blake for a loop. I'm working on little to no sleep, we are off routine, it's raining out... oh joy! Then Colby decided today would be a good day to nurse all day long. I swear he nursed every hour. Which if he was an only child would be fine, but try explaining that to a 20 month old.

At 9:30 Blake decided he wanted to play outside. Ok it's not raining, it's not super hot, sure why not! The problem came at the end when I decided to quick rinse his feet off in the pool... WRONG choice! He then thought he was going to play in the pool... yeah major meltdown. We go inside and I put on Dora the I taped from earlier. I then saw his milk cup from yesterday that I forgot to put away last night (oops)... so I put it on the counter. That brought on another meltdown because he thought there was milk in it and I was taking it away or something like that.

I finally get Blake down for his nap at about 10:50. Ok Colby... now lets see if you'll settle down in your bouncy chair so I can shower... NOPE... I want to eat again. Fine I feed him, jump in the shower, and realize man now it's almost noon and I'm not going to get a nap. I still have to eat lunch, fold Blake's laundy that's all over the kitchen island, and I know that Colby's going to want to eat again soon.

I just hope Blake takes a long nap. And, Colby too (he just fell asleep in his chair again... woohoo)

and lets also hope we don't get our typical afternoon shower too!

  1. Whew! I know how you feel mama! We've had a few days like that too - especially since Daddy's been gone on his trip and is still going to be gone for 5 more days!! Days like this with only 1 set of hands are verrry tiring! I hope they both take a good nap today though so you can get one in too!

  7. I know how it feels. Sometimes you wish you could be three people..... one to play and do the work that needs to be done and two to catch up on the sleep.
