Frustration

One thing you may or may not know about me is I am a planner. I like to know ahead of time what is going to happen and when (hence the need for schedules). I'm all for doing somethings at the last moment (as a teacher my best lessons were taught off the seat of my pants... I hated planning lesson... yes I know I'm strange)

It drives me crazy when people just drop by without calling. It drives me crazy when people only give a few days notice that they will be here at a meal never mind those who plan to stay over night.

My latest issue with this is Colby's Baptism. I was told our Church was going to do Baptisms on Labor Day weekend... ok that's fine. We contact my brother and Richard's sister (the Godparents) and they are good to go. Then Monday night we had our Baptism preporation class and the had us down for the weekend after Labor Day... ummm no that won't work. I have a bridal shower and Richard has a football game on Sat. But, then we say... fine let us check with the relatives. Nope my brother can't do that day.

So now what?? October... nope the two dates available: one Richard already has tickets to a football game and the other is my brother's wedding. November.... Thanksgiving week end: nope Richard and I are out of town and my brother is having his honeymoon then.

So now it looks like either Dec or Jan. Guess he won't be wearing the same outfit as Blake

  2. I'm so sorry! I am a planner too and I get a bit out of synch when things get off schedule- not in my classroom, just in life. I guess I am a bit strange too!

  3. Yikes! I'm just starting to look into Stella's baptism. Our church only gives 1 date per month.

  4. I hear you loud and clear!!! It is rough planning for us too... especially since we are doing the "do-it-yourself" childcare system... working and rearranging and switching and transposing schedules... Grrrr!! But in the end - we are blessed to have the very best in care!

  6. How frustrating!! Well, if they have different outfits then at least they'll each have their own if their wives want their sons to wear what daddy wore, ya know? I'm a "just wing it" kind of gal, but I hate it when people drop by unannounced!!

  9. Lori! We had such similar issues. We decided in the end that the most important people were J, daddy and me.

We had proxies assigned and went ahead with the baptism. We wished everyone could have been there (and we think they could have probably made a more valiant effort), but in the end we had to do what was right by J. And let me tell ya, we WAITED. J was over 6 months old when he was baptized. We originally had it planned for his 3rd month.

Good luck! I know how frustrating it can be!!!
