Is there a handyman in the house?

Before I met Richard, I lived on my own. I had my own tools and knew how to use them, but only used them as needed. But, now for the most part I don't have to, even though it is nice to know I can do things on my own if needed.

Richard is rather handy when it comes to woodworking. He made Blake's bed, which you've seen pics of in the past and he made our bed as well as assorted other things in the garage and in the house. His latest projects have been for the boys (ok so Blake's the only one who can utilize them right now, but Colby will soon too)

The first is something that I really wanted him to make... we are calling it the "kid holder". Blake loves to help out in the kitchen, but Richard doesn't like him standing on chairs. (Me... well I'm vertically challenged so I grew up standing on chairs all the time, and still do, so it doesn't bug me as much)

So here it is...

The second thing is the sandbox (which is Blake's birthday present!)

I don't always let him know how much I appreciate the big and little things he does to help around the house and with the boys, but I know he knows that we love him lots!

  4. I love that!!!! Too bad you don't live close to me because I so would pay your husband to make us one. My husband has a hard enough time putting toys together so there is no way I would ask him to do any wood work, lol. Have a great day!! :o)

  5. That is so cool!!!! It always scares me when the kids are standing on chairs in the kitchen(which is of course where they always want to be!)

  7. Those are fantastic! I love the kid holder- do let my kids stand on the chair to help in the kitchen, but I do worry they will fall. Way to go hubby!

  9. I think you referred to the "kid holder" in an older post and I didn't know what it was. I could really use one of those for Lyndsy because, while I don't care that she stands on chairs, she is the klutziest kid I have ever met and falls off of them! That looks like it would keep her more stable.

  11. What a GREAT "kid holder" I wish we had something like that for Kaelin! I don't feel secure having her "help" me when she's sitting on the kitchen counter.

Must be nice to have a handy DH!

  12. Both the kid holder and the sandbox are fantastic! We just use chairs around here too but not until they were old enough to be mindful of the fact that they had to be careful...we've only had minor spills :-)

  13. Pretty handy hubby you have there!! He does great work. I think we all forget to tell our men now and then....but then, we get forgotten too. As long as we let them know sometimes, I think we're alright.

    I'm vertically challenged too!!
