rag-a-muffin!

Blake is starting to look like a rag-a-muffin. He will NOT let us cut his hair, and the last two times we've taken him to get it cut he has freaked out the they won't cut it there either. I did manage to trim it up a bit before Colby's baptism, but that has grown out and the layers are now looking very "wingy"

Any suggestions on how to get him to let us cut it??

Help I don't like long hair on boys (sorry to those who do, but it's not our style). I need to get his hair cut before it drives me crazy!

(no I haven't picked this as my siggy yet, but I'm testing them out... this is Richard's favorite)

  1. I don't know. G hasn't had his cut yet and I know the time is coming. It will not be an easy task I'm sure!

  2. Disney has this great place in MK on main street! They make a BIG to do about first haircuts! I am not sure what all they do, but I have heard it is a great experience. Maybe one cut there will remove the haircutting stigma and " I don't wanna" OR it could backfire and he may want to go there every time!? You got me!

  3. My 9 year old has the whole shaggy-haired-skater-dude hair thing going on. I wish he would cut it but I am going to let it slide for now.

  7. Hmmmm Lyndsy likes to watch me get my hair cut and her dad and grandpa's hair get cut. Has Blake watched anyone before? Do you use scissors or a buzz thingy? I would think the buzz thingy would be scarier. But I'm sure you already thought of those so I guess I'm no help :(

  8. Is there a Kid's Cuts in the area? I was very nervous with Madison's first cut so we took her to one. I thought $15 was a little much for a 5 minute hair cut but they had cool rocket ship, horse and Jeep chairs for kids to pick from, lollipops for during the haircut (a little hairy) and movies playing all around. She was so preoccupied with everything else she didn't really notice her baby curls being lopped off. Maybe it might be worht giving a try? Good Luck!

  9. Hmmm...well, letting Tate watch a movie while I cut his hair works really well...but he hardly ever gets to watch tv or movies, so it's kinda a "special" thing and since he sits still and watches it. Are there any "special" things you could do for Blake to make him sit still?

  10. We have a kids place called Jelly Beans and it's great! See if you have any places around there that are specifically geared towards kids..maybe that'll help alittle!

The first is never easy. When Lucas was a baby I literally had to hold him down while they did his. Luckily we have a girl that has done all of my boys and is wonderful!

  11. What about that fun place...carnival cuts? They seem to have all the fun stuff to get the kids hairs cut. Other than that...I got nothing. Sorry. My kids have always been ok with haircuts. Go figure:)

  12. We have a place here called cartoon cuts. They place a cartoon on for the child while the kid gets his/her hair cut.
I know with my youngest, just putting a cartoon on helped him a lot to sit still. I cut my kids hair, but my youngest won't let me. I always have to take him to get it cut. I abhore having to pay $11 a kid for a trim, so I bought myself a good pair of clippers and sheers and do it myself, I do take them once a year for a good shaping.
