bedtime

I blogged recently about the fact that we switched Colby into his toddler bed, but never posted pictures of his new adjusted bed, or the new arrangement of his room.

What spurred this thought on is the fact that Blake is also in a new bed! Blake is now in a twin bed. I had the twin bed that I used as a child (I actually have two of these since my brother and I had matching beds and I got this set). We decided that since Blake's legs were hanging over the end of his bed when he was off the pillow it was time to move up to a bigger bed.

As you can guess we are going through a few more growing pains night time challenges. Colby has decided that he wants to try to sleep in Blake's bed. Blake doesn't like this and often chases Colby back into his own room, jumping on his in there to keep him there... or some other reason. So Richard and/or I often find ourselves camped out in the little hallway outside the boys bedrooms. I keep joking saying I'm going to move their beds into one room and see if they sleep or if blood is shed instead. But, knowing my boys it would not help the sleep issues as change is not welcome here.

We tried to put Colby down first since when he goes down for his nap he likes to wander between his room and Blake and then finally settles down to sleep. Did this work..... NOOOOOO. Blake was wired and was really loud as we tried to play games quietly with him in another room. Colby spent the whole time in the hallway and not sleeping. When we put Blake down, Colby was still up and came in for our normal routine. I finally ended up sitting in Colby's room while Richard sat outside Blake's door... yeah that idea did NOT work!

One of these days we will figure out the magic button that makes them both say... I know I'm tired and need to sleep... I'll stay in my own room, not hurt/upset/tick off my brother... I'll go to sleep quicker than the hour that I like to take now.  Ok I can dream... can't I??

  2. My kids are still horrible to get to go to sleep. Ugh. Tonight it took us about 5 times to get them all settled. They are too old for this.
