random weekend thoughts

I hope you are having a great weekend. It has been busy and hot here. Even thought most of the country is preparing for the start of fall, we are still in full blown summer mode here. We don't typically cool down until the end of October/early November and that is just cool enough to put on a long sleeve shirt or jeans, but not both.

Here are a few random thoughts that have popped in my head the last few days:

--Having a puppy with kids means a lot more puppy proofing then when you are single

--Having it rain on soccer practice day means trying to explain to children that no you can't practice on another day instead

--Being the coach of 3 and 4 year old soccer is a good workout for the coach

--Trying to balance 8 kids in and out of a 24 minute soccer game is harder than it sounds.

--Reading directions for simple things is too funny. We bought Dixie a retractable leash, it had a huge set of directions including the fact that you should wear pants and long sleeve shirt and gloves when using it to prevent accidental injury... seriously??

--Homemade bread with butter is yummy. Made that to go with Orecchiette with Mini Chicken Meatballs tonight.

--I'm in a breakfast slump, I typically eat Chobani yogurt or cereal, but I'm in the mood for something else. Colby suggested banana bread, that is a thought, we will see.

--I have a ton of pictures to go through from the last few weeks. I haven't stopped doing project 365, I just haven't gone through the pictures to get them up. I've had my hands a bit busy with the extra child dog in the house.

--Sometimes you have to stop and set the ground rules again to get things back on track.

--Just finished reading The Help. It was good, onto Not My Daughter by Barbara Delinsky. I love picking up a new book.

  2. i thought the help was good...but not great. the movie was LONG but it was good as well.I'm in the miniority here though...the actresses were SPOT on though.

for breakfast I've been doing granola(i know you are surprised here!), yogurt, and fruit. or egg mcmuffins. i made some cottage cheese waffles yesterday and they were really good.(recipe will be coming soon!) i have to come up with some other high protein breakfasts that are fast...

  3. Yes, puppies can fill alot of your time. I say try pumpkin muffins from Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. Those are my breakfast choice in the fall. YUM!

  4. You are a good mom to coach soccer and get a puppy. Watch out for that leash--sounds dangerous. Lol!
