prayers for a fellow blogger
My friend Melissa's month old son Nicholas is in the hospital with pneumonia, a complication from RSV. Please keep him in your prayers!
random weekend thoughs
1. Chasing Watching a toddler during Thanksgiving dinner has it's benefits... you burn off the calories at the same time you are consuming them
2. Driving 3.5 hours (ok that would be if we didn't have to stop) with a 2 year old and an almost 6 month old isn't fun
3. Sleeping in your own bed
4. Having the boys sleep while we were away was such a great treat
5. Watching your little ones enjoy visiting with family is enjoyable
6. Ordering Pizza Hut delivered is pretty good for "fast food" pizza (especially after arriving home after a longggg drive)... and let me tell you those chocolate dunkers are dangerous!!
7. Knowing there are lots of pics and videos on my camera makes me wonder when I'm going to find time to get them uploaded and edited, oh I know I'll do it at 6am on Saturday morning... why now?
8. I hope to get my Christmas decorations out of the attic so I can maybe get started putting them up??
9. I decided to start a new tradition this year (I heard it from someone else and so stole it!) I wrapped 24 Christmas stories up and starting on Monday we will open one story each day as a countdown to Christmas (and yes I have 24 Christmas stories... actually I had them, plus a stack to put in Blake's room for bedtime stories and others that I thought were still too far over his head)
10. I can't believe that Colby turns 6 months this week... that it's almost December and that I have to begin making all the plans for the Christmas holidays... where did the year go??
11. Trying to keep up with other people's blogs while away and using someone else's computer is tough... so if you didn't hear from me over the last few days... you now know why!

Thanksgiving
Happy Turkey Day to all those who celebrate. Hope you enjoy a relaxing day with family and friends. Enjoy the turkey, stuffing and such... the parades and football too. But remember the most important thing is being surrounded by people who love you
peek-a-boo
The other day I heard Colby talking in his crib after his nap. I walked in and found this...

Yes, I had to run and get my camera! I was shocked to see him still peeking over the bumpers. He has figured out that he likes to roll onto his stomach in his crib (and just today figured out how to get his pacifier back in... woohooo!)
Blake came in to check it out too. (tune in Friday for a video of the two of them interacting)

My little itty bitty isn't such an itty bitty anymore!

Not Me Monday (week 8)
I skipped week 7 because... well just because, but now we are back!
Here we are back at Monday again. Hard to believe it! Time for Not Me Monday again. If you haven't played along yet, check out MckMomma's blog my charming kids and read the fun things that everyone has not done this week.
I did not watch Colby master rolling and begin trying to creep this week... nope my littlest guy wouldn't be getting that old yet
I did not fall apart the other night because Blake woke up 5 nights in a row in the middle of the night... nope I'm stronger than that... and I didn't then wake up Richard and have him go deal with Blake.... no way I wouldn't give up and push it off onto my husband
I did not take Blake out alone twice this weekend in an attempt to give him more mommy time. I didn't buy him slippers while we were at Target in hopes that he's wear them around on these cold mornings only to have him refuse to wear those too... does he love ice cube toes?
I did not find Colby asleep on his stomach more than once... nope he would know that babies are supposed to sleep on their backs. And, I didn't leave him there just because I knew he's sleep better... noppers!
I did not grump about the cold weather almost everyday this week. No I wouldn't complain about temperatures that are 10-20 degrees lower than normal. I live in FL it's supposed to be in the 40s here at this time of the year.... NOTTTT
I did not start my list of what to pack for our trip to Richard's parents for Turkey day. No I wouldn't worry about those kinds of things.
I did not start thinking about redesigning my blog layout and making a new desktop for my laptop... no I'm not ready for the Christmas season to start

Sunday Scrapbook page
Since Blake can't write or even sign his own thank you cards, I decided to show him loving his gifts. I had originally wanted to have a pic of him opening each gift, but as I said before that didn't work out... soooo here was my solution:

Got to love a quick thank you card!
to answer some scrapbook questions I've had asked of me...
The program I use to make my digi scrap pages is Photo Shop Elements 5. I get my backgrounds and embellishments from a variety of places... and to this date I've yet to pay for any of them.... got to love freebies!!
I'm often asked if I print out my pages... for the most part... no. Every couple of months (shockingly, I don't have a set time frame for this) I make 5 4x6 pages to put into my wall frames. Other than that I just save the pages on my computer. I plan on burning cd's for each boy with all the pictures I've taken of them that year with the scrapbook pages included.
Yes, I take a ton of pictures of the boys. I have folders for each boy with sub folders for each month. I love to capture the everyday activities. Most of my pictures are of the boys just being themselves, not set/staged pictures. I upload them every 2 or 3 days and quickly edit them with Kodak Easy Share. I then e-mail them off to family members.
hope these answer some of your questions about why I digi scrap. If you want to see more of my work you can check out my page on Scrapbook Flair

Fashion Diva I am not!
I like to watch fashion shows (What Not to Wear, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, that sort of thing). I think it is fun to watch them tear apart someone's wardrobe, and who wouldn't love for them to show up and hand you money to buy all new clothes? As a mother, especially since I'm a stay at home mom, I find I spend money on my boys, but almost never on myself. I have had to purchase a few new shirts because this body is NOT fitting in my medium shirts right now... nope no way am I fitting in a medium shirt while nursing... anyway!
I will admit that I fit into that "mother" look category. I live in capri pants or shorts depending on the temp outside (I have real jeans on today because it's chilly!). Almost all (say 95%) of my shirts are plain t-shirts (you know what I'm talking about those dressy-ish pull-over soft comfy shirts). I wear sneakers if I actually have shoes on my feet. I dress for comfort! I'm on the floor, playing in the sandbox and getting spit-up on... so I can't justify spending money on clothes.
I do think every once in a while that I should go update my wardrobe, but there are somethings that are "in style" that I doubt would look good on me. One that Richard and I were talking about this morning was straight leg pants/jeans. I can't imagine seeing me wear pants that fall straight from the widdest part of my hips, and I don't have huge hips. I know I should just go try a pair... but why?
Me, I'll stick with my comfy clothes and just assume I don't look horrible. Since I highly doubt that Stacy and Clinton will ambush me, or that Tim and Gretta will show up on my doorstep. I will just admit... a fashionista I am NOT!

craziness
Things have been busy and a bit off here the last few days. Blake's birthday party was on Saturday and it seemed to go well other than he did not want to open his gifts. The first one he opened was a monster truck that he wanted to play with, then he opened Mr. Potato Head which seemed to freak him out. Ok no problem... here you open a gift, you open a gift, you open a gift... all the other kids opened the gifts instead. They had fun and Blake laughed and clapped at each gift. Not what I expected, but it went a lot faster and he was happy so there!
I had ordered a cupcake that was supposed to say "... and daddy" to put next to Blake's cake. Yeah they didn't frost it flat but wrote the words around the edge of one of those fancy swirled cupcakes. Then the packaged it in an upside down sundae cup... it did not survive the trip home (5 min drive) so that thought was a flop. At least I didn't get charged extra for it!
Blake's having some sleeping issues that we arestuggling with working on figuring out.
Colby's gaining a lot of strength and is sitting for longer and longer. He loves trying to reach out and get Blake's cars. It will be interesting to see when he starts to crawl. (he's starting to rock his body to get closer to items already)
Me... well... I'm.... well I'm me
Hope your weekend went well. I'll try to get pics of the party uploaded soon.

What are you buying me for YOUR birthday?
Yes, you read that right! It is a running joke in our family. 5 years ago today, Richard's birthday we got engaged. We were setting up his house for a housewarming/birthday party for him. He walked up behind me and asked if I had everything I needed... I said... "well can you hand me" and yes I stopped mid sentence because I turned around and he was holding the ring box. (I knew it was coming eventually as he'd taken me ring shopping and actually the next day we were going to look at locations for the wedding.) He then told me... Now we both have everything we need (o:
Fast forward one year, I jokingly asked him what he was going to buy me for his birthday. So he went out and bought me a ring pop and wrapped it up for me.
The year after that, we closed on our house the day after his birthday
The year after that, we brought home Blake from the hospital
Last year, well his birthday is now lost in the shuffle of Blake's birthday.
But, yesterday I again asked him... so what are you buying me for your birthday??
Richard is the best. He and I compliment each other very well. We are so different in so many ways, but we never let our differences interfer in our love for each other. We've learned that together we are a strong team. He is everything I always wanted in a husband and so much more!
Happy Birthday Richard. You are the love of my life and always will be. I jokingly ask you all the time "what am I going to do with you?" and your answer is true... love me forever!

and the answer is....
too cute not to post
the answer to yesterday's challenge will be posted tonight... so make sure you guess what you think was all over Blake's face!
